CV TIPS |

The CV is the key to getting you an interview so is extremely important. You know you are brilliant but putting it on paper can be extremely difficult.
Be clear and concise. Writing a CV will depend on the type of job you are applying for.
For a technical job make sure you include all your technical skills and versions. For a sales CV include what your targets were and whether you achieved them. Clearly describe what you were selling and the sectors sold to. Any major achievements should be clearly visible.
Try and focus your CV towards the job you are applying for.
Include all your certifications, awards, what they were for and dates.
Get to the point - Don’t waffle on your CV! For instance they don’t want to know that your interest in PC’s started when you bought the ZX81.
Start sentences with words such as Responsible for, Project Managed, Led, Implemented, Configured, Initiated, Increased, Achieved etc.
Check all spelling and ensure sentences flow.
Format your CV. For instance if you put full stops on some sentences make sure you put a full stop on all sentences.
There is no hard and fast rule on where to put your qualifications, certifications, awards, interests, personal details and job history. One way to look at it is companies and recruitment agencies look at many CV’s so may click open your CV quickly and look at the first few paragraphs. If they don’t see the buzzwords on the first page they will close the CV and go on to the next one. If you use that as an indicator it is better to put the most important things related to the job first. Some candidates find an executive summary and/or skills matrix useful.
Ensure job history starts with your most recent experience.
Make sure your CV is always up to date.
